D) Types-
- Tinea capitis– when skin infection occurs on scalp, the term used tinea capitis. Its very common in children and rarely in adults. It may cause alopecia areata on affected area of the skin of the scalp. It produces swelling, itching, burning, lustreless, dry and painful.
- Tinea corporis– skin infection which develops on trunk and extremities. It shows border surrounding lesion or rash. It looks red, swell and ring like and sometime without border also.
- Tinea Barbae– skin infection occurs on beard and moustache only occurs in adult males. It looks circular, red, scaly, lustreless.
- Tinea Pedis– skin infection of soles or toes.
- Tinea Unguim– skin infection of the Nails. It looks brown, black, nails becomes brittle and disintegrates.

Fungal infection or Ringworm are hyphomycetes that can degrade superficial layer of keratin of the skin. pathogenesis completely depends on pathogen related factor and defence mechanism of the host. Fungal adheres to skin followed by the formation of hyphae which spread within tissue. This process is happening because of fungal enzyme and pathogenic factors. Keratinocytes are activated and destroyed to epidermal bridge. Defensin are introduced in epidermis which propagates proliferation of epidermis then innate and acquired immune responses activated which involves neutrophil, macrophages, antibodies and T- cells. The cellular mechanism crucial for healing affected skin by fungus.
