CAUSES-
- Causative organism-Parasite- sarcoptes scabiei itch mite
- Contaminated through towels, clothing, overcrowding, poverty, poor hygine.
- War, natural calamities, social or religious congregations provide good opportunities for mite to cause epidemics.
(CLINICAL FEATURES) SYMPTOMS-
- Intense skin Itching aggravate at night and from warmth.
- Appear brownish, greyish lines or dots.
- Scale formation
- Vesicles or pustules
LOCATION-
Most prominent location is finger webs, wrists, palms, soles, axilla, umbilical region, lower abdomen, genitals, buttocks and medial aspects of thighs.
LIFESTYLE OF THE MITE-
Copulation occurs in skin layer stratum corneum by the female mite. Fertilized female mile laying her eggs 2-3 a day for 4-6 weeks in burrows. Burrow which reach in to skin layer Epidermis.
Lytic secretion by mite which lengthen the burrow approximately 2-3 mm daily. Eggs and faeces are deposited in burrow.
Male dies after copulation and female dies after laying the eggs.
Eggs hatches into larvae within 4 days then prone to nymphs and then adults.
In the host, severe skin itching started 2-4 weeks after infestation.

- Avoid sharing towels, razer, soap, cloths etc.
- Avoid steroids
- Avoid overcrowded area
- Daily bath
